Detectives investigating the murder of a man shot as he sat in a car have released details of the vehicle used in the shooting.

Kenny Reilly, 29, was the passenger in a silver BMW when a black Ford S Max pulled up and a passenger, wearing a black balaclava, got out of the car and shot him on Bilsland Drive at around 10.20pm on April 16.

He was taken to hospital but died a few days later.

Detective Superintendent Kenny Graham said: "A team of officers continues to carry out extensive enquiries into the murder of Kenny Reilly and his family are absolutely devastated by his senseless killing.

"I am now in a position to say that the people carrier that was found burnt out nearby in Craigieburn Gardens was a black Ford S Max.

"Following forensic examination by specialist officers we know it was definitely the car used in the shooting and that it had been stolen from the Giffnock area of Glasgow overnight on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 March 2018.

"We also have sightings of the vehicle being driven between the date it was stolen and the date it was found ablaze immediately after the murder of Kenny Reilly on April 16.

"These sightings are currently under investigation by the Kenny Reilly murder investigation team and officers are conducting extensive CCTV investigations into these sightings.

"I can also confirm that we have captured forensic evidence from the examination of the Ford S Max at the location where it was set on fire in Craigieburn Gardens."

He added: "The attack on Kenny Reilly was not a random one; he was the intended victim and there is no doubt that he was targeted by the suspects.

"We have spoken with hundreds of members of the public and continue to appeal to anyone with information which can assist our enquiry to get in touch.

"If you remember seeing a black Ford S Max in the area on the night of Monday April 16 or indeed before it, we want to hear from you and urge you to come forward."
