PUPILS who will attend Newlands Junior College will be selected from 11 secondary schools from the south side of Glasgow.

Headteachers from these secondaries will choose pupils who have a low chance of getting qualifications and at risk of not getting a job or further training when they leave school.

Candidates and their families will be interviewed by college staff and pupils will then undertake some problem-solving challenges to assess their potential.

The college will then select candidates who they think have the best chance of benefitting from the range of courses on offer. They will be given a scholarship to attend and guaranteed an apprenticeship.
