Funding call after languages review

THREATENED language courses at Scottish universities should be given direct funding to prevent them dying out, campaigners have warned.

The call came after a review of minority languages by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) said provision was healthy.

That runs counter to the views of a group of academics who presented a 3000-signature petition to the Scottish Parliament last year calling for greater protection.
