Ice cream scam head struck off for cashing in on cones

A headteacher who earned more than £3,000 by renting out space in his school’s playground to an ice-cream van has been struck off the teaching register.

Donald Matheson, who was head of Hermitage Academy, in Helensburgh, charged the van’s operators a weekly fee of £50 over an 18-month period.
