PARENTS and teachers are to join forces to fight cuts in Scottish schools under a unique partnership.

The Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), Scotland's largest union for teachers and lecturers, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Scottish Parent Teacher Council (SPTC) next week.

The memorandum will set out how the two organisations will work towards supporting Scotland's education system.

Eileen Prior, executive director of SPTC, said: "Both SPTC and the EIS want the best for Scottish education and especially for the young people in our schools.

"By working together we will play an important role in ensuring a bright future for Scottish education."
