A new free magazine dedicated to families and parenting is to be launched by the Herald & Times Group.

Family Focus Scotland, which launches this week, is Scotland's newest and largest parenting magazine, dedicated to serving families, grandparents, teachers and carers.

It aims to inform, nurture and support each step from pregnancy to celebrating a long life well lived, with everything possible in between.

Editor Joan McFadden said: "I'm really excited about Family Focus Scotland, we're covering so many issues and subjects that mean a great deal to our readers. Some of it will be light-hearted and highly entertaining. Some offering helpful hints and tips with some covering very emotive and moving situations.

"This is family life in Scotland today, often happy, sometimes just routine, occasionally heartbreaking - but always interesting."

McFadden added: "Family Focus Scotland aims to shine a spotlight on families today, whether thriving and growing, struggling against adversity, coping with tragedy, celebrating achievements or planning great things."

The magazine has a circulation of 60,000 copies and an estimated readership of 300,000 per issue.

It can be found in health and community centres, doctors surgeries, local government public buildings, museums, libraries, leisure and entertainment centres, selected cafes, coffee shops and shopping centres.

The Sunday Herald will also insert a copy of the launch issue with its first edition on November 30, while further copies will be distributed with sales of the Evening Times, The Herald and The National.

Family Focus Scotland will also be available in a free digital edition format, bringing you the samecontent of the print edition to read on all mobile and tablet devices, including the iPad and iPhone.

Magazine publisher Darren Bruce said: "Following our hugely successful launch of Scottish Gardener earlier this year and the previous year's Scottish Walks and Scottish Cycling to our growing portfolio of freemium titles, Family Focus Scotland is our newest addition which concentrates on the excitements, exhaustions and experiences of family life."

He added: "This launch will deliver a unique new and unrivalled platform for commercial partners that no other family orientated title can offer in Scotland".
