Ryder Cup bursary for students

SCOTTISH university and college students are to benefit from a new bursary linked to the Ryder Cup golf tournament.

Twelve students from Stirling University, Queen Margaret University in  Edinburgh, and Perth College have been selected for the five year bursaries, backed by Ryder Cup Europe.

The students, who are all studying tourism, hospitality and management courses, will receive £1000 a year for the next five years to help pay for travel and accommodation costs for courses relevant to the 2014 Ryder Cup, which takes place in Scotland.

Richard Hills, European Ryder Cup director, said: "This completes a range of educational commitments made by Ryder Cup Europe, covering primary through to further education initiatives."
