SNP-led council at odds with party policy over closure of rural school
An SNP-led council is set to become the first local authority to shut a rural school since new legislation to protect them was introduced by the Scottish Government.
East Ayrshire Council’s executive committee has approved plans for a consultation that will consider the closure of Crossroads Primary, a 52-pupil school near Kilmarnock. If the plan goes ahead, pupils will be sent to Galston Primary, nearly three miles away.
