Strathclyde votes to cull courses despite protests

A LEADING Scottish university has scrapped a raft of subjects despite weeks of protest from academics and students.

At a meeting yesterday, Strathclyde University’s ruling Court voted to axe courses in applied music, community education, geography and sociology.

Up to 25 jobs could be lost from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences under the plans, which could save the university £750,000.
