James Murphy, who taught at a Catholic high school in Glasgow, is also accused of failing to report "sexualised" notes sent to him by the teenager.
Mr Murphy, a teacher at All Saints between August 2008 and June 2009, is due to appear before the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) next week on four charges. There is no suggestion Mr Murphy faces allegations of sexual misconduct.
It is claimed that in May 2009, Mr Murphy accepted invitations to view the pupil on her webcam and in doing so failed in his duty not to view "inappropriate images of children". It is also alleged he failed to report the teenager was pregnant after she confided in him.
Mr Murphy is accused of failing to "implement child protection policies" and of "not responding appropriately in order to promote the wellbeing of a vulnerable pupil".
