Teachers in call to fight £45m cuts

SCOTTISH teachers have backed calls for industrial action to protect their salaries and conditions of service.

The move from members of the Scottish Secondary Teachers’ Association (SSTA) follows the introduction last month of a two-year pay freeze for the profession and £45 million worth of education cuts.

The cuts have been introduced by council body Cosla and the Scottish Government as part of measures to balance budgets following public spending cuts.
