We must expand higher education to boost economy, says university chief
One of Scotland’s leading university principals has used his final interview before stepping down to call for an expansion of higher education to help safeguard the future economic security of the nation.
Sir Muir Russell, 60, who leaves his post of principal of Glasgow University at the end of the month, said it was vital the Scottish Government funded extra postgraduate student places to give Scottish universities a competitive edge – and boost the economy.
