SPT plans to be first in the UK to bring mobile phone coverage to an underground railway system (December 16). This is a classic case of the digital age outstripping the Victorian technology of the "Clockwork Orange". The racket on the Subway rises to a crescendo of white noise, which overwhelms even the most determined iPod listener. The result will be that the bane of all modern commuters, "I'm on the train", is set to rise to excruciating levels.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
