Fears over conservation plans for Sound of Barra

AN island council has warned that plans to designate part of its marine environment as a special area of conservation may be unlawful.

Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) has unveiled a proposal for the Sound of Barra to be designated a marine SAC but the island community fear the move will restrict fishing and hold back much needed development.
