Protest camp at opencast mine

A PROTEST camp has been set up at the site of a controversial opencast mine which received approval despite significant public opposition.

Scottish Coal said it would take steps to evict the protesters who have arrived at Glentaggart East in the Douglas Valley, South Lanarkshire, in opposition to plans to extract four million tonnes of coal from the land.
