A consultation will be launched by Housing Minister Keith Brown who will work with Shelter Scotland and the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership to develop proposals. Another measure being considered is an enforced sale power, whereby a local authority could apply for powers to sell a property which has been empty for a long time.

Vacant homes plans
COUNCILS in Scotland could be given the power to sell empty homes, as one measure to cut the 25,000 long-term vacant homes in the country.
