LAWYERS representing people affected by a Legionnaires' disease outbreak have called for a time-scale to be set for the outcome of investigations as the total number affected hit 100.

Health chiefs said yesterday one more person has been confirmed as having Legionnaires', bringing the total number of confirmed cases of the outbreak in Edinburgh to 52, while the number of suspected cases is at 48.

The person had been unwell for some time and was being treated in hospital, health officials said.

Investigations into the source and cause of the outbreak continue, but David Bell, a solicitor in the personal injury team at Irwin Mitchell, which is representing 24 people, criticised a "lack of information" being made public.

He said: "There is a concern more information has not been made available, particularly as the number of cases is continuing to increase."
