1000 donors matched

Anthony Nolan has found a matching donor for more than 1000 people with blood cancer in a single year for the first time.

The charity thanked its supporters for passing the landmark figure, but says more still has to be done.

A spokesman for the charity said: "These 1000 people only have the chance of a cure because of the generosity of our supporters who have allowed us to add new donors to our stem cell register. But we can't stop here. Right now, for every two people we've found a matching donor for, there's been another two we couldn't."
