A motorcyclist who died following a one-vehicle crash near an RAF memorial has been named.

Michael Reid, 29, from the Peterhead area, came off his blue and white Suzuki GSXR bike in Aberdeenshire on Sunday.

The crash happened at about 2pm on the A98 Banff to Portsoy road at the Banff RAF memorial lay-by.

Road policing sergeant David Pirie said: "First and foremost our thoughts are with Mr Reid's family and friends at this very sad time.

"Enquiries into the incident are still ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and has not yet come forward with information to contact police on 101."
