Ambulance speeding fines

CALLS have been made for emergency vehicles to be automatically exempt from speed cameras after it emerged around four ambulances are issued with tickets every day.

Although ambulances on a call-out are not liable for a fine, the paperwork Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) bosses need to fill out for this is a "substantial administrative chore", Conservative transport spokesman Alex Johnstone said.

Figures show ambulances received more than 2200 speeding tickets or notifications in less than two years.
