Cancer deaths at 30-year high level

CANCER deaths have reached their highest level since records began more than 30 years ago.

Data from the General Register Office for Scotland showed there were a total of 15,561 deaths from the disease between July last year and June this year – the largest figure since 1979.

There were 3943 cancer deaths between April and June 2012, the highest three-month figure since 1993.
