Cancer drug may help in Alzheimer treatment

A drug used to tackle skin cancer may be an effective treatment against Alzheimer's disease.

In an experiment on mice, scientists in the US found that bexarotene appeared to reverse the pathological, cognitive and memory deficits associated with the disease.

The findings have been given a guarded welcome by dementia experts in the UK, who stressed the study was in its early stages.
