It's the ultimate Scottish footballing challenge: to visit around all 42 senior clubs in just 42 hours.

From Easter Ross to Easter Road; from Parkhead to Peterhead, five friends will this week try to go through the turnstiles at every major ground in the country.

The men aren't quite sure they can do it but hope to raise money and awareness for a new charity, the JMA Trust, set up to celebrate the life of John Maurice Aitken, a fan of Annan Athletic and Celtic who died, just 32, after a decade fighting non-hodgkin's lymphoma.

The team of five touring grounds is led by Mr Aitken's two younger brothers Kevin and Ciaran but also includes friends Gordon Moffat, Joe Cranston and Gary McMenamin, all former Annan Athletic players now with various clubs.

Mr Moffat said: "John's passion for the beautiful game was relentless."

Many of the clubs visited will arrange events and sales of memorabilia to mark the challenge. Celebrity Dundee United fan Lorraine Kelly will meet the boys on Friday morning at Tannadice.

The race - hopefully without extra time - should end at Annan Athletic on Saturday.
