Stars such as Simon Pegg, Linda Robson and Adrian Lester have dusted off their photo albums to share decades-old pictures from their younger days for a charity campaign.

The stars have found the old snapshots of college days, childhood and even as tots for an online campaign being staged by the charity Children With Cancer UK.

It is encouraging members of the public to post their own images of their early years for its #youngerselfie campaign for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Pegg has provided a shot from his university days at the age of 19 while Hustle star Lester is seen as a 16-year-old and Birds Of A Feather actress Robson is seen at 17.

Eighties chart star Paul Young has donated pics from the ages of four and eight while DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles is seen at the age of around ten months.

The campaign, which is running on Facebook and twitter, encourages as many people as possible to post a #youngerselfie and raise awareness of childhood cancer by simply digging out a photo, taking a picture of it and posting it, using the #youngerselfie hashtag.

Lester said: "More children die of brain tumours than any other cancer, but it's one of the most under-researched childhood cancers.

"Help Children With Cancer UK fund ground-breaking research into brain tumours and donate what you can."

Robson said "As a mother myself, I can't begin to imagine what a family must go through with a child suffering from cancer.

"Please support Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in any way you can."

Mary Foulkes, chief executive of Children With Cancer UK, said "The #youngerselfie campaign is an easy and fun way of raising awareness of childhood cancer, a disease that claims more lives of children in the UK than any other.

"Childhood is a very precious time and for many families this time is marred with long stays in hospital away from friends and family and intrusive and toxic treatments."
