People appear to have a different culture when it comes to drinking vodka, gin, whisky and similar drinks – with 3.5 litres of spirits knocked back per person a year compared to 1.8 litres south of the Border.

SCOTS drink double the quantity of spirits compared with their counterparts in England and Wales, retail figures revealed yesterday.
