Consultant: most locum doctors not fit to treat my mother

Grave concerns are building about Scotland’s reliance on locum doctors – with a consultant warning he would not let many of the stand-ins at his ­hospital near his mother if she were ill.

The consultant has written to Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon warning that lives will be put at risk if deficient locums continue to fill gaps on Scotland’s hospital wards.
