Sufferers have described their struggle to obtain Employment Support Allowance, saying the benefits system fails to fully understand the impact of their condition.
One 25-year-old stroke survivor told the Stroke Association charity: "The stroke left me paralysed down my right side and I was unable to speak. I have found the work assessment process stressful. They do not understand what a stroke-related communication difficulty is, so they just think I'm being lazy.
