Guid Sisters cast joins breast cancer campaign

CAST members from the acclaimed production of The Guid Sisters are urging Scots to "get checked" if they are concerned about breast cancer as the show takes to the stage at the King's Theatre in Glasgow for the final time this weekend.

With Breast Cancer Awareness Month under way, the cast including Karen Dunbar, Jane McCarry and Kathryn Howden have backed the Scottish Government's Detect Cancer Early campaign.

The cast came together before the show's performance to hold up placards with the campaign slogan "Don't Get Scared, Get Checked".

The campaign features a television advert fronted by actress Elaine C Smith holding a series of placards showing images of some of the less well-known symptoms.

Emma Schad, press manager, National Theatre of Scotland, said: "We're pleased to support this important health campaign. We would like to urge all women to be aware of the different signs and symptoms and get checked out if they are worried about breast cancer."
