THE NHS has been condemned for spending £1.3 million a year on a homeopathic hospital which offers 343 treatments - despite having 355 patients.

Dr Charles Saunders, deputy chairman of the British Medical Association in Scotland, said: "We believe NHS resources should only be used to support medicines and treatment that have been shown to be effective."

A spokeswoman from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said the centre had been renamed the Glasgow Centre for Integrative Care to reflect that it offered a "more complex approach".
