Legionella victim is now stable

AN Edinburgh grandmother, who had to be transferred to England for specialist care after falling ill with Legionnaires' disease, was "critical but stable" last night.

Anne Bennett, 60, is in a medically induced coma at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester after being airlifted to its intensive care unit on Tuesday when her organs began failing.

Mrs Bennett, a Gorgie Road resident who lives just 200 yards from the North British Distillery – one of the suspected sources of the outbreak – began feeling ill last week and was admitted to hospital after her condition rapidly deteriorated. She was transferred to Glenfield as it has specialist facilities for patients in induced comas.
