HUNDREDS of Scottish patients at a health board at the centre of a waiting times scandal have been forced to wait more than a year for surgery, despite guidelines saying they should get treatment within nine weeks.
More than 550 NHS Lothian patients had to wait more than a year and 200 have still not received treatment after 18 months. Patients' groups said the delays were unacceptable and unforgivable.
National guidelines say inpatients and day patients should receive treatment within nine weeks.
