A REVIEW ordered after accusations that Scottish hospital inspectors watered down a report has left questions unanswered, according to opposition politicians.

Healthcare Improvement Scotland was accused of altering a report inspectors drafted following a visit to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, after receiving feedback from the health board.

Sections referring to their findings in the medical assessment unit were changed in the wake of discussion with NHS Tayside staff.

A review looking into the circumstances was published yesterday and Healthcare Improvement Scotland has promised to respond to the findings.

However, Jackie Baillie, Scottish Labour health spokeswoman, said: "This review doesn't answer the question of whether it was right for the chief executive of NHS Tayside to be involved in a meeting which discussed a report into his flagship hospital."
