Patients were not thought to be identifiable from the images, believed to have been taken at the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow.
A source said: "Most, if not all, of the other staff were completely unaware this was happening.

A hospital worker has been suspended after photos of patients having operations were posted on Facebook.
