Report: Drug users given no help

MORE than a third of Scots who died from illegal drug use did not get any help for their addiction, a report showed yesterday.

The analysis of 432 deaths from overdoses in 2009 found 172 of the users had no contact with treatment services.

One-third were parents and one in 10 were living with a child when they died, according to the research. Almost 90% were under the age of 45.
