Five NHS workers from Scotland are among 30 medical volunteers who have been deployed by the UK Government to west Africa to help in the fight against ebola.
They will arrive in Sierra Leone today and undergo training before moving to British-built ebola treatment centres.
The Scottish volunteers include Dr Roger Alcock, a consultant in emergency and paediatric medicine at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Falkirk.
