Scots NHS board in fitness to work deal

THE firm tasked with carrying out controversial fitness to work tests for the Department for Work and Pensions has appointed NHS Lanarkshire to assess Scots for a new benefit.

Atos Healthcare has come under fire for the way it carries out assessments for Disability Living Allowance (DLA). The French firm's box-ticking computer model, which decides whether people are fit for work, has led to more appeals than any other Government department – with 40% of those appeals succeeding.
