Woman in hearing over nurse claims

A WOMAN who worked as a nurse for more than four years is to face a disciplinary hearing after it was alleged she was not qualified.

Kathryn Ritchie allegedly told managers at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde she was a fully-qualified registered nurse and landed a job as a staff nurse in 2007. She continued to work in the position until January 2012.

She is also alleged to have lied to health bosses that she had carried out 450 hours of practice as a midwife when renewing her registration as a midwife in 2008 and 2011.

Ms Ritchie, 54, from Milngavie, will face a Nursing and Midwifery Council disciplinary hearing between September 8 and 12.

She is alleged to have worked as a Band 5 Staff nurse for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde between October 1, 2007, and January 23, 2012, but was not "qualified or registered" as a nurse.

The charges are said to have happened in West Dunbartonshire, where Vale Of Leven Hospital is based.

Ms Ritchie is no longer employed by the board.
