It is a feat most adults would never even contemplate - a seven-hour gruelling climb up 4438ft.

But 11-year-old Caitlin Connor, of Cambuslang, has done just that to raise money for a climbing charity which helps disadvantaged young people.

Caitlin, who hopes to become a professional climber one day, completed the momentous task at The Glasgow Climbing Centre on Saturday, raising more than £1,100 for charity Urban Uprising.

The youngster had never completed an endurance challenge before and only began climbing in January last year, but has already achieved well in the sport.

She is the Scottish speed climbing champion in her age group and hopes to make the Scotland squad later this year.

Caitlin said: "Since I've started climbing, I've gained strength, technique and confidence, as well as making a lot of new friends.

"I was first introduced to Urban Uprising through The Climbing Academy and I decided I'd like to help give others the life changing opportunities that climbing has given me."

Urban Uprising, which already helps young people in deprived areas of Brazil, plans to open a project in Dumbarton in Glasgow later this year.
