£115m crime cash trial starts

A MAN is on trial accused of breaching proceeds of crime law by moving £115 million out of Scotland.

Shahid Ramzan, 40, appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday accused of participating in the alleged transfer of criminal property and avoiding VAT of more than £6m.

Prosecutors say Mr Ramzan, of Broughty Ferry, committed the alleged criminal actions between September 2002 and July 2004. Prosecutors say they involve the alleged trading of computer parts, mobile phones and accessories between a number of different companies.
