GLASGOW Schools Symphony Orchestra has unveiled its first teenage conductor, Ross Gunning.

At 19, Ross, who studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, was charged with following such respected names as composer John Maxwell Geddes and RSNO violinist Gerry Docherty as he took the baton at an autumn concert yesterday. Ross, of Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, said of his orchestra for the event which is attended by more than 2000 school pupils at City Halls: "They are a fantastic group of talented young people."
