2000 PPI claims a day

More than 2000 people a day are making complaints to a watchdog about being mis-sold Payment Protection Insurance (PPI).

The Financial Ombudsman Service said it was being bombarded with the claims, which have hit record levels.

It logged 211,885 PPI claims in the last six months of 2012, a rise of more than 125,000 on the first half of the year. The total number with a grievance stands at 600,000.
