It's shaping up to be a fantastic year for Scotland across the world of entertainment.

To ensure you don’t miss anything, we’ve rounded up some of the best films, television, albums, gigs, books and theatre shows that 2013 has to offer and listed them on the linked pages below.

A host of Scots stars will return to our screens in films including The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug, Irvine Welsh’s Filth, The Wee Man and Sunshine on Leith, an adaptation of a musical based on the works of the Proclaimers.

Skins, Game of Thrones, Sherlock and Being Human will also return and, with the upcoming 50th anniversary of British television institution, Doctor Who, falling in November, Scots actors including Sylvester McCoy, David Tennant and Karen Gillan are all expected to make an guest appearance to celebrate the show’s milestone year.

As if that wasn’t enough, some of the country’s top authors, including Christopher Brookmyre, Denise Mina and Alexander McCall Smith, will unveil their latest works, musicians such as Biffy Clyro, Frightened Rabbit and Edwyn Collins will tour and release new material, Black Watch will enjoy a 17 day residency in Glasgow and Travis and the Fratellis will make a welcome comeback to the music scene.
