A total of 2700 recycling bins are to appear across Scotland's streets.

The bins will be placed at public transport sites, tourist attractions, colleges, NHS hospitals and surgeries and shopping centres following an £850,000 investment from Zero Waste Scotland.

Newspapers, aluminium cans and plastic bottles will be taken at the bins, at 250 locations including Edinburgh Airport, Nevis Range Mountain Resort and Strathclyde University.

Iain Gulland, director of Zero Waste Scotland, said: "The small effort it takes to separate waste for recycling can contribute to economic growth for Scotland."
