30 firefighters tackle fire in capital centre

DOZENS of firefighters were called out to tackle a blaze at an office block in the heart of Edinburgh.

Emergency services were sent to the St Andrew Square area after being alerted to the fire at around 10.30am yesterday.

About 30 firefighters arrived at the scene in Thistle Street Lane.

Traffic restrictions were put in place at North and South St David Street.

The Scottish Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
