A batch of 31 chainsaws worth almost £20,000 has been stolen from a rural college.

The equipment and a green trailer was taken from the Barony campus of Scotland's Rural College in Dumfries between 4.30pm on Friday and 9am on Saturday.

The Husqvarna and Stihl chainsaws were taken from a workshop in the college and police said they have a "value approaching £20,000".

Officers are investigating the theft and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
