UP TO 45 jobs are to be lost as part of a revamp of the Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday and Edinburgh Evening News that will see the operations merged.

Publisher Johnston Press described the move as "further efficiency savings" that will lead to the titles being managed and staffed by the same team.

However, the publications will retain separate print identities. Staff will be invited to apply for voluntary redundancy. Scotsman editor Ian Stewart will become overall editorial director. Evening News editor Frank O'Donnell is to be managing editor.
