500 staff face axe as religious book shops up for sale

A series of shops run by a leading Bible charity, including the flagship store for the Church of Scotland, is up for sale with the threat of nearly 500 job losses.

Wesley Owen is the latest publishing-related company to suffer from the economic downturn following the collapse of Borders Books and the planned sale of Chambers in Edinburgh in the space of a month.
