£9000 confiscated from fraud widow

A widow who fraudulently claimed more than £11,000 of benefit by hiding the fact she had a new lover will have £9000 confiscated by the Crown

June Bernard, 49, failed to tell the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) she was living with her new partner at their home in Fife for nearly two years.

At Cupar Sheriff Court, a confiscation order was granted against Bernard, who was sentenced to 135 days in prison last month.
