Up-and-coming actress Christina Chong is the latest British performer to be linked to the forthcoming Star Wars film.

The actress, last seen in 24: Live Another Day, is reported to have landed a supporting role in JJ Abrams' upcoming seventh instalment of the sci-fi series, although her involvement is yet to be officially confirmed.

Chong, who has also appeared in TV shows such as Doctor Who and Black Mirror as well as Madonna's period drama W.E., could be joining other British talent in the new film, including Andy Serkis and John Boyega alongside relative unknown Crystal Clarke, who is currently studying drama at the Royal Conservatoire in Glasgow.

The involvement of Chong has been reported by Latino Review, but Disney has not confirmed her role.

Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are returning to star in Episode VII, reprising their roles as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia respectively, from the original trilogy. Episode VII remains on course for a December 2015 release date.
