Niall Iain MacDonald was planning to make the crossing from New York to Stornoway last year, but had to postpone the voyage after his fundraising efforts fell short of his target.
Although he is still seeking several thousand pounds of further sponsorship, Mr MacDonald is confident he will reach the target and is making plans for his boat, The Fox, to be shipped to the US at the end of April so he can begin his crossing in mid-May.
